About Liveable
It started with a spreadsheet...
In 2024 I found myself searching for somewhere new to live.
It began with a spreadsheet (yes, I'm that person).
I spent hours researching towns and cities and adding favourites to a "nice places to live" spreadsheet.

The spreadsheet grew as I kept adding more criteria. Crime levels, green spaces, local amenities, affordability and more.
But then I had another problem…
Finding the nice side of town
Once I found a town that ticked all my boxes, my next problem was: how do I know which side of the town is best?
Researching Reddit and using Google Street View to "walk the streets" all helped. But it still took hours.
That's when I got serious about building Liveable into what you see today.
My big breakthrough was being able to colour-code areas on a map to show the good and not-so-good parts of any suburb, town or village.
And after 6 months of work I launched Liveable.co.uk.
Along the way I discovered that I'm a 'cartophile'... a person who loves maps a little too much.
What's Next
It's early days but I hope to continue growing the website based on feedback from visitors.
Moving is stressful, finding somewhere to live for two, five or 20 years can be daunting.
If Liveable can make the process of finding somewhere nice to live a little less stressful then I'll be happy.
